Types of String
Strings come in two types: nylon and steel, depending on the style of acoustic guitar you choose. Which one you choose will be determined by the sound you want to make and how you want to play.
Remember that steel strings aren't allowed on a classical guitar, which is why nylon strings are used. String tension can be too strong for the neck, and due to the ball ends, replacing steel strings with nylon strings can be difficult. These ball ends are standard on steel strings but not on nylon strings.
Steel strings are a terrific option if you prefer a brighter sound that's ideal for country and folk music. There are more internal braces on a steel-string guitar so that the body of the guitar can sustain the tension caused by the heavier strings. As a result, this sort of guitar may feel a little more solid.
Using steel strings on a guitar with nylon strings will almost certainly cause structural damage to the neck and body. The first thing I notice while playing on nylon strings is how smooth they are. After that, I switched to steel strings. I noticed that the lower the string, the more the coiled metal can be felt.
Type of Body
While you might walk into your local Guitar Center and assume that every acoustic in their acoustic area is related, there are a lot of differences. The 12-string acoustic guitar, which has a resonant tone that sounds much like a harpsichord, is one of my particular favorites. When it comes to body types, though, there are a few to consider:
If you enjoy bluegrass music, you've probably seen a dreadnought guitar. This battleship-themed guitar has a larger range of sounds than most other guitars. The tail is enormous, but you'll also notice that the neck is quite long.

This body style is a variation of the concert guitar that can produce a large amount of volume and fill a room. This is a guitar to consider if you want loud tones. Concert guitars are likewise a little on the tiny side. The Grand Concert is the largest auditorium in the world.
These instruments, often known as grand orchestra guitars, have a high volume output. The tones produced by this instrument are more in the midrange than those produced by more high-pitched concert guitars.
Anyone who recalls Johnny Cash would recall his jumbo guitar, which is an oversize form of guitar that differs in design from the dreadnought. This guitar has a more resonant sound profile due to the wider sound chamber.
Getting your first step-up guitar is an exciting time for any growing player, and I hope this post and buying guide will assist you in finding the best acoustic guitar under 800 to accompany you on your creative journeys.
